i have two cocker spaniels and i know you feel. its me, double two. and lately the older one, the female has been escaping from the kitcehn at night just to sleep near my door and smell me.
when i go to work, i leave the radio on. they enjoy latin radio station because there is alot of talk and words that they heard at the house, it seems to work pretty well. about leaving her in the car, park the car near or next to where u are going, so she sees you. like if you go to get gas and take her with you,. let her see u and smell u while u are pumping gas.
female cockers are more nervous then male. they also pees constently when someone says hi to them. it is a nervous pee. its normal, just have a swip and swip it clean.
the more happy they are, the longer the stream of pee.
how old is the dog. they do grow out of it after a while.
also are u the only owner she has had. because if you adopted her, maybe her other home id not give her love,you do and so she might be anxious or nervous when u go away that maybe you will be leaving her and she enjoys bein with you. that happens to my male cocker. since i am not his first owner, everytiem i take him outside for his normal bathroom, he runs pees, runs back give me a kiss run back does poop runs back give me another kiss, round around the yard, comes back every few seconds to make sure i am still there. until we are all done.
hope this helps.

You are enabling this behavior and making it worse by taking her everywhere and leaving her with relatives. In order to break the anxiety try to leave her alone for short periods maybe 30 minutes then and hour and so forth. Make sure you do not pet her or acknowledge her in any way immediately before leaving and right after you come home. A few minutes after you come home AND only after she calms down you can then show affection. You may also want to crate her during this process. Get information on dog crating from the Internet, a book store or your local library. You have to get your mindset into a different mode. This doesn't mean that you will not show affection but if you make a big deal out of your coming home or your leaving, this will increase the anxiety level of your dog. Think positive and confident. Dogs look for pack leaders and you're it.

She is probably expressing her anal glads. 2 little glands on the inside near her rectum. When full the express usually while the defecate. But in the situation she is stressed she is probably letting them go. It is not specific to cockers, or dogs, cats have them too.
The best thing for the separation anxiety...is way to long to post. Google it, or speak with a trainer.

hmmm...good question. i have a cocker spaniel. mine does not like to be left alone. so it must be with yours.
don't leave the cocker in a car --alone. that is a no no. re. the nervousness...mine trembles but i smell no bad...mouth...or skin. Try to brush him/her with white soda powder -- smells good...good for the skin...etc. They are love-able animals..plus they are intelligent and very very attached and faithful...what else do we want?
enjoy

This can happen with any breed..... That smell your talking of, is probably her excreting her anal glands, which they do when they're nervous, excited, scared, etc. As far as treatment... you could try a behavior specialist, to help modify her reactions to things.

EVERY dog has that problem. My dog did and she used to cry when i put her in her cage every night. You can solve your problem with TOUGH LOVE if your spaniel starts whining, ignore her, she'll stop;
