my fiance is britsh and we eventually want to live in the u.s. but he's decided he would like me to live in the UK temporarily (like a year or less) after we get married. any idea of how to do that? Can we get married here, file his immigration papers and go back to uk to live for 6 months? or would i have to file papers to live there and then try to get him into the u.s. later? HELP!!!

you can marry and then come to the us in a year, but apply for his green card immediatly with the US embassy, but i think he will need to file for a visa for you to stay in the UK for the year though....
If you marry him outside of the country just make sure you keep all your marriage documents etc, and file for his green card early.... they sometimes will give you a hard time without it to come to the US... definately check out the uscis, and check about a visa for yourself to stay in the UK

you may also have other options, so check the embassy and the site

You have to file immigration papers in UK in order for you to stay more than 3 months since you are marrying a UK citizen you will be permitted to live and work in UK. As soon as you get married with him go to USA consulate or embassy and start with the green card procedure it can take up to 6 months until your husband to be- will be permitted in USA on a spouse visa. and not tourist visa. Good luck- there are lots of papers involved.
