I am from Atlantic city and it is illegal to bring alcoholic beverages on the beach unless you are in one of the Beach bars. Brigantine is the same way, no alcohol on the beach. I think all the beaches in New Jersey are like that, unless you are in an outdoor bar area. All beaches have this no alcohol policy posted on signs at all beach accesses. Bottom line, it's a public place, and it's illegal to drink, have open containers, or be drunk in public places, except properly licensed establishments, in New Jersey anyway.

I never thought about it. Interesting question. I find it hard to believe that all those people along the Jersey beaches don't have some kind of alcohol, but I don't really know.

If the beach is part of a New Jersey State Park, then the answer is no. If the beach is part of an incorporated borough/privately owned, then I'd check with the town/owner.

1. go to the beach.
2. find a cop.
3. ask.
Never a good idea to ask any type of legal advice from a bunch of people sitting on the computer with nothing better to do at 2am.

you probably could call them and find out... since you obviously have the internet I would reccomend looking it up.
If I were to just guess though I would say probably not... many beaches are technically part of state parks systems (sort of) and many dont allow alcohol similarly to many state parks. Best way to find out for sure is to call and find out instead of taking some stranger on the internets word for it.
Stupid internet strangers...

Drinking on the beach is strictly not allowed or anywhere in Public. Fines are stiff $1,150.

Nope, it's a vioation of the NJ open container law...no open alcohol containers in public areas.
That being said, unless you are visibly intoxicated with 'something' in your hand, or if you are being really obvious about it (waving your bottle around) then they don't usually bother with you.

Most beaches don't allow it. But I bring beer in cans put in cooly cups in Nantasket Beach in MA and have never had a problem.
Just don't flaunt it.
