No, a passport is not required, but it is best to have some photo I.D.
Airlines now insist on photo I.D. for internal flights within the U.K.

No you don't, but come to sunny Ireland (North or South) and you'll not need a passport either. Unless you travel by cut-price airlines and then you need ID
