It seems like every time I date a new girl, my female friends are somewhat hurt I did not pursue them. Even though sometimes I did and we decided it would be better to be friends, something changes in their personality and they are jealous that I am with someone that is not them. Can men and women ever be real friends?

No honey - that's an ugly myth that was started many years ago by someone who didn't want to let the guy go so he could have fun but she didn't want to have him for herself "that way". As long as sex is involved, anywhere at all, friendship is not possible between men & women.

Lots of opinions. Here is mine:

Yes they can be friends but the sexual side needs to be neglected consciously. Sometimes one likes the other a little but that doesn't mean they can't be friends.

What can't work is men and women that say they are friends to spend time together but what they really hope for is dating. Lets say the guy wants to be "friends" with a girl but she already turned him down in some way romantically. It is never going to be a real friend situation. Not for a couple of years anyway. Often times it just lasts till the one person figures out that it won't turn romantic.

Men and women can be friends when you don't notice what sex they are anymore. That means they aren't a guy to you...and vice versa. Sounds hard. But it is true. And it takes a couple of years minimally. I think it gets easier as you get older.

And that is the truth. I have had male and female friends for years. I have no trouble differentiating men as friends and men as dates. I see them as different kinds of men. Hard to explain but accurate.

i say hook up with your female friends an if they are fat then tell them they are more like your sister than a possible girlfriend that way your not like damn your hippo .
I mean i have had alot of female friends that i have had sex with its good to hav ethose relationships you will feel more at easy when it happens an you both can go an hang out just like always .
sex should not determine a friendship nor a relationship it is going to happen with eather your hand or a lady . I say get a girl that is all about causal sex but not relationships . it may feel like dating but in the long run you will be happy with out the bullshit drama that relationships bring like you didn't call or your not caring enough or i can't beleave you shot your load on my chest an laughed about it. yea you should get a bed buddy an forget all the g-friend bs

It's one in a million sweety.
Having female friends after things don't work out are rare...Feelings have been exchanged already...But don't get me wrong...You can still be civil and stay connected, but for some reason people take the word "friend" differently...Also, depends on how the break up was...But the answer is NO...

Yes they can I know from experience if you ask someone out and their not interested and you look for someone else after you give them a chance it is jealousy and thats just life you can be friends with women but it can't be a intimate relationship just like hanging out doing friend stuff just as if your hanging out wit the guys.

Friends can be sexually attracted to one another, but once you go that route, that whole friendship thing goes away.

Men and Women can be friends. It just might be more difficult if they are attracted to one another.

Oh, and the female friends you have who are jealous, are stupid. They had their chance, and they should of went for it.

No. Men and women can't be friends. Once they get together and cross the line of having sex. The sex always gets in the way.
Females tend to have an emotional attachement for the man who is or was in there life. For men it is much easier for them to let go of the lady in there life. We keep feeling inside and don't let it go.

In my opinion, NO. Why? Because feelings develop over the years and one of the two people in the friendship is bound to have feelings for the other person.
