Agnostic is a word constructed from the Greek Agnosis which means—"not knowing."
Gnostic is a greek word meaning knowledge, confering the idea of spiritual knowledge.
Agnostics feel that absolute knowledge of whether there is or is not a divine being is impossible. Gnostics believed that they could have divine connection and personal knowledge.

Gnosticism was a religious and philosophical movement popular in the Roman world in the 2nd–3rd century AD. The term, based on the Greek gnosis (“secret knowledge”), was coined in the 17th century, when it was applied liberally to ancient Christian heretical sects, especially those described by their orthodox contemporaries as radically dualistic and world-denying, and those who sought salvation through esoteric revelation and mystical spirituality.
Agnosticism is the doctrine that one cannot know the existence of anything beyond the phenomena of experience. It is popularly equated with religious skepticism, and especially with the rejection of traditional Christian beliefs under the impact of modern scientific thought. T.H. Huxley popularized philosophical agnosticism after coining the term agnostic (as opposed to gnostic) in 1869, to designate one who repudiated traditional Judeo-Christian theism but was not a doctrinaire atheist (see atheism). Agnosticism may mean no more than the suspension of judgment on ultimate questions because of insufficient evidence, or it may constitute a rejection of traditional Christian tenets.

so a gnostic would be someone with knowledge
and agnostic is then someone without knowledge. in relation to God and spirituality, they are with holding judgement on the existence of God because they dont have enough information.

a = without
gnostic = from "gnosis," knowledge
It's not about ignorance but about the impossibility to achieve knowledge. The opposite, gonostic, stresses the need to go for it, to achieve truth. In both cases, truth is associated with divine revelation, with the undisclosing of truth as an initiative ojn God's side. Therefore, agnosticism is more closely associated with atheism as it suggests to explore truth following routes other than the revelation of the divine.

I am agnostic.
I try to hear about religions to keep an open mind, btu I've never considered going truly Christian or something.
Agnostic means you choose to remain ignorant. We think that there is no true way to no if there is a god until death so we don't spend our lives worshipping.

Actually, many Agnostics (like me) try and learn everything they can about all religions, as well as everything we can about the arguments against religion, so no, we're not ignorant at all. We just don't think that we, as mere humans who admittedly do not know everything, can say for sure if there is a god or not.

I haven't seen any PROOF that there is a God, but I haven't seen any proof that there isn't either. And trust me I've had the debates about the Bible, miracles, etc for 30 years at least. The Bible was written by men a long time after Jesus, & I haven't seen a miracle. I've seen someone recover from a disease with people praying for them & I've seen people die a horrible death with lots of people praying for them. Could be the odds.
