How many of you go about your business around the house, or outside the house with a cigarette between your lips? For example: When your doing laundry, washing and drying dishes, paying bills, changing the baby, etc?

The reason for my asking is that I personally do.

I am a smoker, but i do not smoke around the kids. I wait until my husband gets home (my twins are almost 3) then go to our bedroom (with fans and exhaust) to light up and relax for a minute. Even if the kids aren't home I only smoke in our bedroom, so at least the areas where the kids are does not smell of smoke.

When the girls come home from a visit at grandma's you can smell the cig smoke on them. ugh!

Although I smoke, I recognize the dangers of second-hand smoke, and prefer not to expose our children to it.

I would NEVER change a baby with a cig hanging out of my mouth! Anything can (and does) happen and I would just die if I accidently burned my child with a cigarette. Please consider your childrens welfare, even if your going to smoke in the house around them, do not put them in this precarious position!

I only smoke outside of my house. However at my Father's house they will smoke in the house but in a different room. I will not let anyone hold the baby and smoke at the same time. I do smoke in the car if my child is in there but only if all the windows are down.

No I hate that. Changing the baby- ok now that's just wrong. I'm a smoker too, but common sense dictates that you do not have a cigarette hanging out of your mouth while changing a baby, c'mon. As for the other chores- well it's kinda gross and unsanitary but whatever.

lol - I can't, I get smoke in my eyes and it burns!! I try not to smoke in my house, because weirdly enough, although I am a smoker, I can't stand the smell of cigarette smoke (unless of course I am smoking). I also try not to smoke around my kids, I figure it is my choice to smoke, but not theirs to be exposed to my smoke. I do smoke in my car, limiting my cigarette while the kids are in the car or keeping windows rolled down. To cut down, I would hold an unlit cigarette, or chew gum.

I smoke. But I smoke on the porch, away from the kids. Second hand smoke is not good for anybody. My daughters asthma started when she was 2. I used to smoke in the same room with her when she was a baby and the doctors said that the smoking was likely the cause.

Outside only..never in the house, never in the car & never around my kids. Now smoking while changing a diaper is terrible. What if your ash fell off the end and landed on your poor babies bare private parts...OUCH. Also, in the car is terrible too. I knew a girl who was smoking with her baby in the car, she threw her butt out the window but it flew back in and landed on her baby in a rear facing back seat, car seat. It started screaming, but she was in rush hour traffic and couldn't get pulled over to see what was wrong for several minutes. Sadly her baby had severe burns on it's poor little helpless body. She almost lost the child over it...

I smoke outside ONLY...never around my child. I do smoke in the car when the baby isn't in there too. I also think when they get to five it's okay to have them around smoke...just not all the time.

I don't because my daughter was premature and has lot's of health problem like pulmonary stenosis, bronchitis, etc. But if she didn't i would probably be lighting up right at the side of her bed while reading bedtime stories. But I don't want to aggravate any of her illnesses.

My father smoked and i'm still alive, people kill me when they call it child abuse to smoke around children. They banned smoking everywhere else you should be able to do what you want in your own home with people thinking you're the antichrist.

I used to smoke, but never around my kids, outside only. I wouldn't hold, change, or smoke too closely to the kids.

I only smoke in my bedroom and in the Florida room. However, this is not to say I'm a hypocrite, it's just that my kids are so young, 2 & 7months.
