That arguement has been used so many times... *sigh*

Ok, here goes.

I cannot make myself believe something I don't. it's just impossible. If I try to pretend I believe, I will be unhappy. Plus, if there is a God, I'm pretty sure he'd be able to tell if I was faking it. I think he would rather me be what I am, an Agnostic, than be a fake Christian "just in case."

You make several bad assumptions that lead you to a false conclusion.

The first is about you. You assume that if you are wrong about God, then there are no dire consequences for you. But you are wrong for several reasons. Even if there is no God, we can make our lives meaningful. This is the central theme behind Humanism. If you are wrong, then you lived a life with no meaning. That is unforgivable. You would be right that you wouldn't be punished for it, though.

But consider this: Suppose that there is a God -- but he isn't the God you think. Suppose that rather than using some arbitrary test for getting into heaven like "Does he acept Jesus" that the real God actually uses a test like "Did he question his beliefs and search for knowledge?" In that case, I go to heaven, and you are cast into hell. Then you would be the one who is screwed.

I'm not an atheist nor a "Religious hater" -- but am an agnostic. I do believe, however, that if there is a God, it isn't anything like the God that Christians think he is. So -- if I am wrong, you think I am screwed. But the alternative to that is to worship a God who will send good men to hell just because they aren't believers. I could never worship, honor or love a God who uses the same criteria for sending people to Hell that Hitler used for sending people to Auchwitz. Such a God would be Evil -- and you who worship that evil god are the ones who are screwed.

Well, first of all, being agnostic does not mean you don't believe in God per say. It means you believe in a higher power, it is just undefined. So that does not necessarily mean you are going to hell. Atheists on the other hand believe there is no God or higher power for that matter, thus they would be the ones that will go to Hell at least according to the high and mighty Christians. Look good people believe many different things, but that does not make them bad people. I believe in something, but I can't say what. However, I figure that if I live my life well, respect and be true to those around me, then my life will have meaning enough. I don't need a God to tell me that I'm living my life the right way. I don't need a God to tell me to be good person and tell me I need to respect those around me. If I live my life well, then the afterlife, whichever it may be will probably be a happy one for me.

Agnostics believe in God, they just don't believe in religion. I believe they put forward arguments such as "wars nowadays are made by religions - too much hatred". Atheists are people who don't believe in any type of spiritual being or institution.

If you are at the pearly gates, and agnostic and have lived a squeaky clean life, I don't see why they shouldn't let you through.

However, if you are atheist, and you are at the pearly gates, you may have a problem lol .....

I think in answer to your question about "Religious haters" it's because of the fanaticals and extremists. People don't usually like being told that the way they think and do things are wrong. Most people are happy with their lives and just like to live them. Normal mainstream religious people usually live and let live. Hope this helps.

I am a practicing Christian too but I do not go around trying to convince others about something that is nothing more than a speculation of your beleifs, as long as you continue to spout off that others are wrong and you are right people will dislike you for that, so it may be time for you to grow up and use some common sense when you are asking a question,

Although many of the negative questions directed toward Christianity seem awful and come from young people, it is my notion that many are just searching for honest answers. And they express themselves as young people do--with hard cynicism. I don't believe they actually hate religion--just confused. But some do have valid points no matter how they state their questions.

It should be a challenge for you as a Christian to break it down and read through what the question is, and try to answer honestly. What ever you do, don't take it personally because the questions other motive is to get under your skin.

Me, I like the challenge and come back at them with smart-@ss answers just for the sport of it.

If you are a Born again Christian you have already died, it is appointed unto man to die once and then the judgment. children of God have died when they give there life over to the Lord Jesus Christ, they die to sin. But to the unbeliever they are already dead so they will die they second death. Because they have never been alive they die once. Shakespeare said it like this For in that sleep of death what dreams may come. The sleep of death.

That's funny cause I see the Darwin stickers on the back of peoples cars and it makes me laugh. Here is a person advertising that he won't accept heaven even if it is offered to him because he's narrow minded, never considering the fact that Darwin himself was not only a christian but spent his scientific career proving the relationship between science and religion. So now you have not only proved yourself to be ignorant but stupid. Don't feel sorry for these people cause heaven would not be nearly as appealing if they let everyone in...

God Bless!

Being agnostic doesn't mean atheist. We believe in something different. You sound like what you protest so much. Diversity in religion is a great thing. Because one doesn't believe a certain way does not mean they are screw-ed.

i am also a christian, and I'm with you. Why do all of these people feel it so necessary to yell and scream and post all of there non-believers propaganda on here but go completely ballistic when a christian person writes something about God or our faith. We don't really care that you all think the Bible is a lie, we each have a right to our own beliefs, and personally I pity anyone who wakes up everyday and goes through their life without His grace and love.
