Why not? They just go under or climb over, electrifying it would stop this immediately. Why does this country always seem like it's being run by a bunch of p*ssies. We should be hard like Russia or Brazil where they treat criminals very harshly so it teaches them a lesson. Our prisons are like luxury condos for many people with all the ammenities they get now, it's f*cking ridiculous. These people are criminals and should be dealt with harshly at the source of the problem...the border

That's not a viable solution. The solution is to make Mexico change it's ways.........why are Mexicans so proud of their country that does nothing for them? They think so highly of their homeland to flee their country in droves. Mexico needs to build a better infrastructure and seek better employers within its borders. Mexico needs to take care of it's own with proper education and proper health care. I for one (as a citizen of a border state), am sick of handing over free health care, free housing, and free food to any illegal fleeing their precious Mexico. Do you think that as an American--if I relocated to Mexico and lived illegally there-- I could demand free health care, free education, and free lodging? We would have to build a 20 foot wall and fence in the top as well to stop the "flow" of illegals into the US. The answer is not in the fencing.....it is in Mexico wanting to better itself.

I think we should get rid of the fence entirely. and in its stead we should place soldiers 5 feet a part on duty 24 hours a day running in 8 hour shifts with an order to shoot anyone that comes within 100 feet of them. And as for the prisons you're right our tax dollars going towards prisons in which prisoners get 3 square meals a day free TV and recreation time without ever having to work pay taxes or a mortgage or all the other stresses that life brings on.

How about openly petitioning the Mexican government to do something more about crime, and trying like hell to make more opportunities for their own people? That's really the problem, here, is that their country's all screwed up, but the upper class there or whatever can't be bothered to try and improve things for anyone else but themselves, then there's the drugs, and corruption, and a bunch of people that flat ain't got no dineros.
Put it all together and you've got a MESS. With all the money we've given them, they should have PLENTY of infrastructure, and plenty of jobs, but it's still dysfunctional, and it's up to THEM to figure out why. Sure, we can help, but we can't do it for em....and illegal immigration's causing a lot of problems in america. Unfortunately, the only way to stop illegal immigration in the short term is to put more enforcement out there, build the border fence, start getting US employers to not hire illegally anymore, but the REAL fix is going to be when Mexicans themselves decide to run their own country and do things to help their own neighbors. Many hands make light work, Mexico's got something like 110 million people, road-building, building schools, hospitals, churches, jails, police stations, these aren't impossibilities, but the majority of people have to want that, have to support it, rather than just letting hooligans with machine guns take over.

To all of you that would close our borders to immigrants and especially to Mexicans, I would advise you to speak to the members of 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines who were clearing houses in Fallujah on the morning of November 14, 2004. Sgt Rafael Peralta, a Mexican immigrant, was shot multiple times by an AK-47 at close range. Afterwards, an enemy grenade rolled into the room, which would have taken out his entire squad. Sgt Peralta covered the grenade with his body and absorbed the detonation. The other Marines were spared because of this 25 year old immigrant who had enlisted in the Marines as soon as he received his green card and who had volunteered for the mission they were on that day. He gave his life that his brothers in arms would be spared. To those of you who want to close our borders, you aren't worthy of polishing Sgt Peralta's boots.

Concerning the comment about the Minutemen. If you want to pick up a rifle and do something for your country, visit your local Marine recruiter and take a trip to the desert. Otherwise, practice holding your breath until eveything turns black.

First of all, having an eletric fence is inhumane. Second of all, have you ever stepped foot inside of a prison. You would be worried about getting your little butt cheeks tampered with than how nice your "condo" is. Gang members, racists, rapists, murderers, and child molesters live inside those walls. I'm sure no one is sleeping comfortably, or kicking back in prison like you imagine it.

Electrify it, charge that thing up. Let some of em get fried. Otherwise those sneaky bast**** will devise ladders and other devices.
The liberals will be crying. Excuse me liberals, its ok for every country to protect their borders but not us? Go pound salt!

No. We should electrify the companies who lure them here to work in deplorable conditions for slave wages. The US economy needs these workers. We need to find a way to allow them to legally and freely come here to work.

No, don't electrify the fence, just turn some crocodiles loose in the rio grande, this might slow it down.

Get a gun and join the Minutemen. Don't you think if the government actually wanted to keep the illegals out they would? Wake up and educate yourself.
