Go to www.akc.org, click on 'breeds' then 'breed rescue' - these groups charge nominal fees for vet care, etc. while housing them between homes. English Bulldogs are never cheap as pups, even from disreputable breeders, becuse they all must be delivered by c-section. That is why they are so costly! The pups heads are too wide to be born naturally - it would kill the dam trying. Bulldog breeders breed the dogs only one day, and schedule a c-section at 56 days later - not letting the dog go to the normal 58-63 day gestation period. That is why you will never see them cheap. If you want a pup, be sure to contact a breeder that is a member of the breed's club, & that tests for genetic defects. Good luck!

try petfinder.com and puppyfind.com

Be sure to really look into the breeder/dog. On Puppyfind it's easy to find dogs, but you have to be sure they send you EXTRA photos of your dog choice, the parents AND will talk to you on the phone. If they give you a story about not having a camera or the dogs being out on vacation, you know it's a questionable breeder. Also, do a search for english bulldog breeders in YOUR area. If you can GO to where the dogs are, you can see if the place is filthy or if the mom looks like she has been preggo for five years.
Good luck

English Bulldogs are not cheap dogs and they have many many issues. You get what you pay for. They have allergies, they have breathing problems, they cannot be outside in the summer or for that matter in the winter. Must watch their weight, they can become aggressive if not properly bred. They have a lot of mental issues too. They are not the easiest to train. They are very very stubborn and if you want to breed them they require c-sections. Do A LOT of research on the breed before even considering one.

They are very loving dogs but a lot of work. If you do not have the time or patience this is not the breed for you. I have one and he has cost me a lot of money (well worth it) and will continue to cost me money - Special foods and medications etc.

You should not buy any bulldog for under $1200 since they are a very expensive dog and hard to breed. Anything under that you are probably dealing with puppy mills -

Go to this website and many others to learn what you can before obtaining one.

The old saying "You get what you pay for" is true when it comes to buying dogs. I would consider applying to adopt a rescue. If you pass the inspections, and your application is approved, the adoption fee's are usually less than they would be if you were getting a dog from a reputable breeder, pet store, or worse, a puppy mill. Remember, there are good breeders and bad breeders out there.

Get one from a rescue. Link to a national rescue site below. If you don't find what you want from there try searching in Yahoo:

Bulldog rescue "Name of your state or City"
