what is the advantage and disadvantage of a house that has vinyl floor in every room ? I am thinking of changing the carpet in my house into vinyl because carpet seems making me sneeze a lot.
I prefer changing it into wood or tile actually, but I heard wood and tile are expensive, breaks easily.
thanks

Vinyl will look like crap in a few years, save your money and go with the tile. With proper care it will last a lifetime.

I disagree. I put sheet vinyl in my house-- living room, down the hall to the front foyer and into two bedrooms-- plus closets. Had the house nearly 30 years-- had very little trouble with the sheet vinyl. I then used area rugs where I wanted rugs. I loved the ease of care-- dust mop and or wet mop with any kind of mop.. Used peel and stick vinyl in the bath and the half bath-- same length of time had to replace twice.
With that said-- there are vinyls and vinyls-- lots of major name brands make sheet vinyl-- see if your area has a "flooring" store-- they usually have an assortment.
Also, check out "pieces"-- these are pieces that are left from a job-- and they can save you some money. When installed, the installers spread glue over the floor and then lay the vinyl over. It is priced by the running foot-- (length) and there are standard widths-- so if your bedroom is 10 X 12 you would need a 12 foot wide piece, 10 feet long-- The layers/store can help you figure how much you'll need-- and how to measure to take advantage of the size of the sheets.
good luck

Carpet can trap allergens and create asthma problems. You're smart to get rid of the carpet. However: vinyl through out the house is tough to keep up. You can use laminate flooring suchs as Pergo, instead of wood which is much easier to maintain. It looks nice and cleans up well without a lot of maintenance and adds to the value. Whereas vinyl through out the house won't help the value. Tile is nice and is expensive to install and to keep up.
