Remember the 1986 amnesty? When we were promised border security, proof of citizenship for benefits, and clamping down on companies hiring illegals? Did we get it? Did we get ANY of it? Nooooooooo ..... and now it's the same story ... let us give them amnesty, and we'll secure our borders, clamp down on companies, etc., etc. It is VERBATIM the same deal being rammed down our throats ... they didn't keep their promises in 1986, they won't keep them now ... the only hope is that the States are now beginning to circumvent the Feds ... and people are getting pissed off to a larger extent ... if we keep the pressure up and send a message with our vote in November ...maybe, just maybe, they'll have to do something for the American people this time around ... I for one don't trust any politicians on the immigration issue .... for them to do the right thing, they have to be forced ....

Honestly, I think it is just a political football used by politicians to garner votes. If this country was truly serious about fixing the illegal problem, then something should have been done 30 years ago.....

We have had porous borders with illegals coming by the thousands for years, all of the sudden its a huge deal? I don't get it....

If there is any progress, it is only to appease the current voters who are unhappy with the invasion....I feel we need to have a strong immigration policy and follow up on it.....We need to be consistent, everyday, not just during election years....

I think since Americans are rearing their heads and demanding our leaders do their jobs, there has been a fear rippling through the illegal community.

We ARE making progress, but it takes time to remove a mountain.

The amnesty issue has been too hot to pass. If Pelosi is Speaker of the House next year, it goes thru.
