You need to clean the moldy spots at once and check for more areas where mold can grow, including wood.Every thing has the potential to become moldy. If you can not do it,it would be in your best interest to hire someone.Mold spores cause a chemical that goes into the lungs and cause lung problems. It also has been discovered that it can kill small children.About 10 -12 years ago in NY,about 20 children were developing a bloody cough, and some died b/c they did not know what they were treating. The doctors at the time did not know it was caused by mold spores. The CDC went into the homes of these children and in all cases found mold spores.Once they knew what they were treating ,they could treat the remainder of the children. And the homes had to be thoroughly cleaned and rid of the mold spores.

As I said before, mold can grow any where especially hot/humid /damp places. But have you ever discovered a moldy food object, probably indescribable, that has grown mold, another example of how mold grows.

yes, mold will grow on pretty much anything, but prefers porous surfaces, especially damp ones. (It is so humid here that mold grows on metal.) Treat the spot with a bleach product to kill the mold; a friend raves about Lysol gel with bleach (or something like that).
