The updates that Microsoft offers for you computer and important (or even critical) and should be run on the PCs. Is it true that the will overload your PC? If you mean do some of them add files or other information to your hard drive that will use up so of the space? Yes - some of them do. Not all. And most use such little space that it should not be an issue.

If you go into your c:windows directory, you may see a bunch of directories that start with $NtUninstall.... Those are the uninstallers for the patches. If you are concerned about disk space, you may delete all of those to get the disk space back.

But NOT running the patchs should be your concern. It leaves you PC open to attacks, worms, viruses and more that will overload your PC for more then the patches ever will.

Now often? If you are running Windows XP, turn on the automatic update and it will check for you daily and keep your PC up to date without you having to do anything. With Windows 2000, at least once a week.

It depends on how large a hard drive you have and how much open space you have on it. If you have like, a ten gig hard drive, and running Windows XP,yes it will really get full quickly with all the other stuff on it,as well. Otherwise-no it will not take too much space with, like a 40 gig hard drive.

No it is not ture. If you are running XP you should turn it on autoupdate and let it install the patches automatically at night when you are sleeping.

you should update your windows often. it stores some files on your computer so it cuts some space from your harddrive but windows is very vulnerable without updates...
