First off, declawing is not some horrible awful thing to do to a cat. Secondly, ALL kittens bite! Its how they learn to play, you just have to be patient and play with your kitten in a gentle way and if she does bite you hard, then flick her nose (not hard, just enough that shes like *whoa!*) I've had cats all my life and right now I have 3 of them, an 11 year old, an 8 year old and a 5 year old...All of which are declawed and have been since they were kittens. I taught them to bite gently, otherwise I would flick their noses or just stop playing with them. The 5 year old likes to bite while playing and sometimes she forgets herself and bites hard, but I tell her *no* and flick her nose, then we continue playing and she bites gently.
I wish your Mother-In-Law the best of luck and don't think that by her declawing her cat that shes done some awful thing. If people actually knew what they were talking about, they would know that the front claws are used mainly as a warning and not as defense...it's their back claws that they use to fight with!

This is a side effect of declawing. If you couldn't take the time to teach a kitty to properly scratch then it's doubtfull she will teach him to stop biting.
Contact a behavorlist for training tips. In the mean time keep the hands sprayed with lemon juice or bitter apple spray.
Also read this about declawing and in the futrue you will know that it creates more problems then it solves.

De-clawing is not a good idea- side effect biting. He should not be scolded, she cut off his fingers at the knuckles and I would bite her too if I had enough. Oh when he starts urinating on her bed, she will wish she had made a better choice.
Maybe a better home is the best answer. Precious is gonna wear off soon. Then what?

I agree with Jewelz. Declawing is not such a TERRIBLE thing! Both of my babies are declawed and they are perfectly fine. They would bite a little in the beginning, but I used the little flick of the nose technique and now they only bite gently when we are playing. they are 5 years old now. They grow out of the biting phase.

You have taken away his claws, now you don't want him to bite (typical baby behavior in kittens). He doesn't have a playmate -- another kitten would teach him how to behave in short order. Your MIL should have gotten a stuffed cat!
If your MIL is going to play with the kitten with her hands she is going to be bitten. She should use a cat dancer or a feather toy to play with him.
Your money-grubbing vet who did that surgery should have some ideas for you -- and he won't.

He is biting her because she had him declawed! Don't you see that is as if a human got their fingers cut off. I am glad some vets are not for this ..... it is a horrible thing to do. IF for some reason he takes off and has to live outside, he has nothing to defend himself with......how cruel!

Well there's a product out in pet stores called bitter apple. It tastes lousy to cats. Whenever she tries to bite make sure you have some of it on your hands, etc including items that she might chew up. Hope that helps!

Why in the world would you de-claw a cat? Claws to a cat is like fingers to a human. It's a reaction till the claws get back again.
