Everyone reacts differently to different drugs. Both Xanax and Buspar are antianxiety agents. Xanax, is well known for it's side effects, such as somnolence, fatigue, dry mouth etc. Buspar, supposedly doesn't cause such side effects, but have known many patients who get the same sorts of things taking Buspar as they did taking Xanax.....it's all in the individual.

Buspar is supposedly not as addictive. Paranoid? Who's that guy? Having been on Xanax for the last 8 yrs to control anxiety and other things, I've never had a problem with increased doses or paranoia or any other bad side effects. My therapist/doctors tried several meds. And yes, we all react differently. Nothing worked without making me a zombie. Take drug holidays on weekends to clear your body and mind (doc approved). It also keeps you from needing increased doses. It's the addiction factor and high rate of street abuse that prevents many doctors from prescribing this highly effective drug.

The XANAX is the one that may cause you to go paranoid for a few days, REAL paranoid.
