You can't. If someone truly believes that a "holy book" is the difinitive word of God, asking them to contemplate it's truth is tantamount to asking them to blaspheme. I'm sure many of them have thought about it and for one reason or another thay have come to the conclusion that faith makes sense to them. I just wish they'd ALL think before murdering people in the name of an entity that may not exist (many - I dare say MOST - religious folk would not dream of that, but it only takes a few nutters...).

I have often thought about this one myself, as I am Jewish and I don't particularly appreciate Jehovah Witnesses' coming round to my house (usually when I am in the middle of something! lol) or when someone who is Muslim tells me there shouldn't be a State of Israel.
My answer is this, you have to forget religion altogether. The only way is to get a really well thought out secular statement or question and give it to them. If you start to pick at religion they will just continue to spout a religious diatribe, which is not the effect you want. Make sure it is totally secular and it will have a better response.
As you can imagine, this is not an easy thing to do and one I haven't yet come up with that is not yet foolproof! I am just giving you the ingredients, as it were to let you think about what you would say. Hope this helps.

We can't make them do anything because their beliefs derive from the scriptures, so both religions believe they are teaching by quoting from the scriptures, there really is nothing to reflect on here, it is simply their interpretation of how and what they teach from the scriptures.

if people were following Gods commandments and His laws there would be no need for religion.religion is the downfall of man. each teach their interpatation of scripture and people decide which one suits them, each thinks their version is the correct one. God doesn't come in religion. God is within our hearts and mind and as long as we follow the laws and commandments we will be alright. The muslims and the christians believe similar except muslims do not believe Jesus was the son of God they believe God to great to be associated with a man , they do believe Jesus to be a prophet but not Gods' son. catholics believe in statues and have them everywhere and people bow down to them and pray and the scripture clearly states that we not do this.all i am saying is if God is love and he is then why can't we all just love the people that he created and stop trying to be the chosen ones.

I encourage understanding the spirit of the law and not only the letter of the law. Actions speak louder than words, live the law instead of just reading it. Jesus had a great deal of critism towards certain groups of people but his sharpest criticism was directed towards the Sadduces and the Pharisees, the lawmakers and religious scholars. In many of his parables, the lowly person was the hero. In the Old Testament, it is written that God spoke to the Jews and instructed them to bind His laws on to their heads and hearts. The message was to always keep in mind the laws of God and to practice them when opportunities arose to do so. What did the people do? They wrote miniature version of scripture and placed them in small little leather pouches and then tied them to their chests and their foreheads. It is written in the Gospel that if you come across a man, who is cold and hungry, and say to him "keep warm and eat well," and walk away then you have done nothing for him. Again and again God directs people to act out His laws. In college, one of my classmate always brag about how easy it is to drive a car with manual transmission. He read cover to cover the driver's manual for manual transmission cars. He kept talking about it on and on. One day, I decided to ask him "Have you ever driven a manual car before?" He replied, "No, but I read about them." You don't know something until you try it.

Forget it.
You are trying to stop the tides like King Canute.
It won't work.
Try something feasible.

What makes you think that we DON'T reflect on our faith's teachings?
No offense, but what a patronizing attitude that your question displays.
