The dog will survive on 1 large meal a day but really 2 smaller meals are ideal. How would you like to wait until the evening every day for your first meal?
My parents just leave a giant bowl of food out all day for their dog.

Once a day if fine. Canines in the wild eat whenever there is food available, stuffing theirselves till they are full. Sometimes this may not even be every day. Follow the directions on the bag/can on how much a dog of this ones weight should have. Feed it during a time of the day when you can be around to let it outside shortly afterward to relieve itself. Maybe give him a little treat (milkbone or some such biscuit) in the morning as a small snack to stave off that empty stomach feeling.

I think 2 meals a day is better than one. Imagine eating one big meal a day yourself! I have a 28kg dog and feed her daily amount 4 times a day as it suits her best. She has 2 breakfasts an hour apart, an early evening meal and supper and she is a year old. I may change this to 3 meals but no less. Hope it helps

It's a matter of training. One good well balanced meal is considered by most nutitionalists to be healthy for the system. Same meal at the same time of the day picked up after 30 minutes will form the good ,healthy habit.Don't worry if the dog is stubborn for a couple days.It WON'T starve itself.

I believe that if a dog can't be on self-feed, twice a day is much better for the dog that one big meal. A dog eating one big meal a day will tend to gulp his food and feel really uncomfortable.

I think you’d be fine with 2 meals a day. Me personnel our dog is around 35 pounds and she has always had access to her dog food when she wants it. We keep it filled and she eats anytime she wants too.
If you do choose one meal in the evenings you should give it a snack during the day. As someone said would you yourself be satisfied if you only had one meal a day in the evening.

I don't feel it is proper to feed your dog only once during the day. The dog is going to digest the food once she gets it and then she wll be hungry again. I would suggest feeding her about half of her regular portion at night and half in the morning when you wake up. Then your dog will have a schedule and she will be happy!

I think 2 meals a day, to keep the energy up, that's what I feed my dog, and she's in perfect shape and health. I feed her about....5-6 of those small scoops (like you feed horses with), a day.
