Yes, unfortunately, depression can happen more than once. I had a bought with depression 8 1/2 years ago. I had suicidal thoughts and I also developed bulimia, which is an eating disorder where you binge eat and purge or get rid of the food by vomiting. It took me 8 months of intense therapy and drugs such as Prozac and Xanax to get through the depression. I know a lot of young people shy away from therapy. But, therapy isn't just about some shrink trying to get inside your head and play around with you. A good therapist teaches you the tools you need to get and stay healthy. The tools that I learned in therapy get me through when I find myself feeling depressed or wanting to binge eat and purge. You didn't mention whether or not you had therapy. It REALLY helps to have someone to talk to. I hope I've help shed some light on your situation.

I've included this link from The National Institute of Mental Health. www.nimh.nih.gov/healthinformation/depressionmenu.cfm -- I hope it helps you. Be encouraged, okay? It really DOES get better...I'm not saying that to you because it sounds nice. I'm telling you this because I've lived it and I KNOW that it does.

Yes. Depression can happen as a result of a chemical imbalance or psychological disturbance. It is important to monitor people with a history of depression as depresion can escalate worsening what was experimeted in the past.

Major depression can occur once, as a result of a significant psychological trauma, respond to treatment, and never occur again within your lifetime. This would be a single episode depression. Some people tend to have recurring depression, with episodes of depression followed by periods of several years without depression, followed by another episode, usually in response to another trauma. This would be a recurrent depression. In general, the treatment is similar, except that treatment usually is over a longer time period for recurrent depression.

with depression it can happen more than once and it could be a more serious mental problem. I went through the same thing while i was in grade school and come to find out I have bipolar disorder. While it has its similarities to depression it has different medical treatments. Bipolar disorder or "manic depression" is basically when your high's are really HIGH and your lows are really LOW. but my advise to you is to seek medical attention because if it is just regular depression or bipolar disorder you could still end up killing your self when things arent going okay in your life.
