Yes, your cats can still be spayed. I work at a vet clinic and the only time the doctor here recommends not spaying a cat is if it is over 8 years old, unless of course it needs to be spayed for health reasons. (Animals can get serious infections in their uterus than can kill them.) As long as your cats are healthy and don't have any ailments or disease then there should be no problem having them spayed. Be sure to ask about pre-operative bloodwork where ever you take them for the surgery. It's a good way to detect any illness that maybe hasn't presented any physical symptoms. If there are any concerns that arise on the bloodwork then the doctor won't put your cat at risk. At the clinic I work at we require it for any pet undergoing an anesthetic procedure. By doing that we've avoided some serious complications. Also, try to not have the surgery if your cats are in heat. It can make things much more difficult for the doctor since there is more internal bleeding, not to mention most clinics will charge more if the cat is in heat. Good luck! =^.^=

Certainly at that age they can be spayed and your relief when it is done will be complete.
Older cats (and yours are not old by any means) have a little longer recovery period after the operation than would a kitten or a cat under a year. It is abdominal surgery. They do have pain meds for cats now so be sure the vet gives you some when they go home. Don't treat them yourself with aspirin which can kill a cat in short order.

Yes you can spay your cats at 1 1/2. But you should look for a vet that will check bloodwork before the procedure is too be done, and make sure to add a catheter (this will give your cat fluids during the operation also they tend to wake up quicker as well) Also look into pain meds for post surgery so that your cat will be more comfortable during the recovery.

Absolutely!!! It's easier on a kitten, but definitely still do-able on a 1 1/2 year old cat. Now vets don't like to declaw full grown cats because it is very hard on them. That is MUCH easier on kittens then it is full grown cats. I spayed my 3 year old cat and she was fine in a couple of days! Good luck, you're making the right choice!

Your cats can still be spayed. There is only an age restriction on how early the can be spayed. Spaying your cat is a responsible pet owner decision. You and your kitties will be much happier!

You can spay female cats as young as 6 months of age on up to there adulthood just so long as they are healthy and not sick at the time. My feamle ca t was not quite 6 months old when I got her spayed and she turned out to be a beautiful, gentle, loving, spoiled rotten brat.

You can definately still get your cats spayed at 1 1/2 years. The younger you spay them, the less chance they have of getting breast cancer and other related diseases.

It's never too late. And I feel for you, my female is part Siamese so when she howled she really howled. Since she was spayed she's been a little princess.

How did you handle it this long. When my cat started howling, I think I lasted about a month. I really couldn't take it.
