This is probably pretty unusual. My sister-in-law and I were sitting outside talking and feeding my then 11 month old crackers. We got into a conversation and he got upset that the crackers stopped coming so he stood up and said (this is what my sister-in-law believes he said) "God damn cracker!" I thought it was more of a mumble, but he got his point across.

My daughter's first word was "hello", when she was 7 months old (I would always say "hello" to her when I would go into her room to get her out of her crib). She's now almost 2 and talks a mile a minute!!! I can't wait to hear my son's first word--although, as he's 3 months old, he has a little bit to go before he starts talking.

My baby's first word was not really a word but a name. My nephew was 2 years old( he just turned 3) and couldn't say my 11 year old daughters name real good. We all call her Keyvee, but he called her Bee-eye! We don't know where he got it from, but when my baby was about 10 months old she would say Bee-eye! over and over again. When my nephew finally began saying Keyvee, my baby stopped saying Bee-eye and started saying... you guessed it...Keyvee!!! She is 14 months old and still calling my daughter by her name.

My son's first word was "Hiya" for hi, followed by "Dada." Go figure, I do all the work in terms of labour and primary parenting, and dad gets the first acknowledgement......lol.

My son is only 6 months and when he cries he says "mama" he just started doing this about a month ago. I makes me feel very special. I don't know if he's actually saying mama because he knows that's who comes when he cries or if it's just coincidence.
