IF there is a God, and I'm not saying there isn't, I just don't know if there is. But in regard to your question: suppose there is a God. I think that he must be quite appallled!
For one thing, people blame everything from hurricanes to their own screw-ups and everything in between on God.
Also, going along with the same theory, then everyhing on this earth is supposed to have been put here by God in order for us to use. But I don't think he would appreciate the fact that most of it is either outlawed, or made the reason for mass murder (war).
And what a sham has been made of his Commandments. Cops not only lie on a regular basis, but they legally steal in the name of "forfeiture", not to mention that they literally have a license to kill.
People steal on a daily basis, they abuse their parents, there are lots of peeping Toms perving at their neighbor's wives, and basically breaking every one of those commandments.
No, if there is a God, I would think that he is not happy one bit. And G. W. Bush must be quite an emarassment!

Even being an american, even knowing a lot of them very well, I can't begin to know the most intimate parts of their spirituality and their relationship (or lack of relationship) with God. I don't know how many that do bad things are honestly living as best they can according to what they've learned, I don't know what percentage know better, and act maliciously. That's just so personal, that I honestly have no idea.

We have an Advocate that died for our sins. In the eyes of God we are forgiven. In the eyes of Jesus we are much in sin and must ask to be forgiven. I don't think that God sets and dwells on the problem. I think He puts all of His energy towards the solution that He already created. He was smart enough to know that we were going to be helpless to sin without a savior, and that is why He sent Jesus. All we have to do is accept that reality and our High Priest puts in a word for us. Thank You Father in the Name of Jesus for the"Sea of Forgetfulness where all sins go the moment we ask.
God has allowed this society to transgress further then any other society before. We are definitely in His Grace, a sign that He would that not one man, should parish. It is also a sign that His coming is drawing near.

I think there's alot more to God than we know. He probably planned this all out. There is a hadeeth (something said by the prophet Muhammad [pbuh]) that says that there will be a time when people are punished 100 times less for their sins, and rewarded 100 times more for their actions, because following the right "path" will be so much more difficult. I'm a muslim, and I don't base my belief of hadeeth, but the lesson of it seems to ring true: Times are always changing, but God is forever, and will always know us.

I don't think God is happy with how most people are living their lives - not just americans. Everyone sins and falls short of the glory of God.
On the upside - there is no condemnation in Christ Jesus
:)

If there were a personified God he would not approve of the typical American way of life. It is devoid of meaningful values, materialistic, ego-centric and vapid.

No I don't. Most Americans are money hungry, selfish individuals who don't care too much about anybody or anything unless it affects them some kind of way.

There is no god, but if it helps, the other 95% of the World isn't too happy either.
