It depends on your feelings. Everyone is different, thare is no set time. You have to be ready to let go or you are not being fair to you or whoever you're dating.

There is no set time limit basically whenever you feel that you are ready. I am currently in the process of breaking off my engagement/relationship as well. I have always been the type of person that when I am done with something I am done, over it, finished. So, I know that by moving on and finding someone else, it will not be a rebound for me. But, everyone is different. Follow your heart and do what is going to make you happy!!!!!!

Wait until you feel ready. If you feel like you are still to caught up in what happened in the past to start something with someone else, don't. It's not fair to either you or them. However, if you meet someone, and they stir deep feelings in you, don't hesitate to get to know them a little better. If you are both still interested in each other but you don't really feel "ready" be honest with them about how you're feeling and why. I can't promise they will understand, but you don't want to get tangled up in something that you're going to have to back out of later when there are already deep feeling involved.

Dating -- start now.
Commitments and intimacy -- you should refrain from until you can see your ex-fiance without having your blood pressure rise to dangerous levels.
For me, it would probably take 6 months. If I didn't socialize and date other people during that time it might even be longer. Dating other people without any commitments will enable you to look more objectively at both past and present relationships. Embrace that knowledge, but don't get sucked back into a commitment which may blind you.
