It has actually no nutritional value at lol. The sodium content and preservatives alone are awful. Plus God knows what the "meat" is actually made up with hence the term mystery meat. And the fat content is very very high. No matter how you cook or prepare you can't get rid of all of that. I mean have you read the ingredients and the label on the can? lol You would get more protein, more fiber and more nutrients by eating a can of dog food actually. Compare the labels on both and you will see what I mean.

Now you've made me hungry for fried Spam. I absolutely love the stuff. Did you know Hawaiians eat more Spam per person than any other state? There are so many recipes for Spam. It's yummy!

On to your question... Grilling Spam is a good idea as it will take out quite a bit of the fat in it, but a lot of the salt will remain. One way to get rid of the salt is to slice or cube the Spam and boil it just a few minutes and then drain it before cooking it how you like it. It's the salt that gives Spam the fattening reputation more than the ingredients.

Enjoy your grilled Spam. I'll bet it's delicious on kabobs with pineapple!

SPAM origniated as a meat substitute for allied troops, because it had a long shelf life, it was prefered over regular meat to keep the troops going. If your not going to be shooting Germans, Japanese or Italians, i would suggest you get a nice t-bone steak instead

Not as fattening as fried. Look on the can for the total calories in a serving.

Grilling a high fat product will not melt all the fat (& reduce it by dripping off). Much remains.
