I do not know exactly what you mean by 'giving suffering and pain." But if you mean that they are teaching that people must suffer and be in pain in order to please God, I choose to believe that they do not know the Bible too well. For even though there are stories in the Bible of people who had to go through much suffering and pain, if you truly read the whole story at hand in each case, most of the time I believe that you will see that the people brought the suffering upon themselves; due to disobedience to God in some way. For God does not want people to have to suffer and be in pain, but He wants to deliver them from suffering as much as possible; even though He did tell us that we have to suffer persecution to a certain limit while upon this earth. He said, "If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you." But He also provided a way for man to be healed from sickness and disease. That was by the stripes which He bore on his back. Sadly to say, many preachers do not believe in divine healing for everyone, but I most certainly do. I believe that preachers should preach the Word of God as it is written; not just in ways that please themselves or in ways to please their congregations. It is God whom they must give account to; no one else.

No way - I don't mind when the preacher teaches us about suffering and pain of others - but I have enough suffering and pain of my own for the preacher to give me more!@

I don't like for preachers to only preach about suffering and pain, but I do appreciate preachers that are honest and preach from the bible. Everything in the bible isn't all wine and roses, and there is pain and suffering, but I don't believe that should be the only focus.

your question needs some clariafaction: do you mean they make you suffer pain & suffering thru some physical contact or do you mean they preach it? if its # 1 i would get the hell out of that organization rather quickly. if its #2, you may want to stay around & hear what he is saying, but if its not leading to salvation, then find a church that has that theme in its sermons. a preacher, preist, ect, ect, isnt suppose to scare you to salvation but rather lead you to that point.thats . the way to salvation is thru jesus & nothing else.

Life deals those things out. Preachers don't need to do it.
Everyone's life mostly already contains it.

Because some teachers are not good teachers, are not authentic teachers, and abuse the power that has been invested in them.
