I am curious to know why people contend that yoga helps with significant weight loss. I have tried yoga, and it did little in the way of weight loss for me. I 'm asking because I think I am in a plateau after losing 45 lbs, and am wanting to work some new things into my workout. What yoga programs are best recommended for this. Any links would be helpful. Thanks.

Yoga. Yum.
Yes Yoga can be an effective weight loss tool. But I think it's more along the lines of Yoga can help balance your body to be more effective with other forms of exersize. Yoga can help balance your mind. I find it easier to stick to my diet, I have found that yoga helps me be patient and put it all into perspective.

I believe the first step in changing my body, was changing my mind.

Probably a waste of time...it will make you more flexible if you want to start with some cardio or weight training. But yoga alone wont do much. Not enough movement to get the heart rate going. To the chick below me, you say judging by the bodies in class, you beg to differ? Dont you think they work out as well? You honestly dont believe that they just show up to yoga for an hour or so and get a tight body, do you? Those "yoga people" probably do a crap load of cardio as well. Why dont you ask them if they work out...

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.

The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.

Get started today!

You just need to move deeper into the connection with your body by yoga. Just "doing" it might not work. The reason it helps is because it changes your relationship with your body and changes who you are. If you weren't working at that level it might not help. Try to move deeper into your yoga. It doesn't work by using calories, but by filling you up spiritually.
