Perhaps we could set up a convention to demote Yahweh, Allah, Shiva and The Flying Spaghetti Monster.

Pluto was already a god of the Underworld, so it was more or less a matter of "Get thee behind me, Satan!"

Has it not been said, "And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?" In other words, if you wish to demote something, first consider whether or not your eyes should be beaming!

I would cast my vote, however, for the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Powerful and dangerous when in full suction, being apt to asperge the surroundings liberally with tomato sauce. I think he might justifiably be cut up and served up on toast (with asparagus, of course!)

The Flying Spaghetti Monster?

I don't think we are demoting Pluto himself, scientists always debated the "planet's" status. They thought it was one of Neptune's moons pushed off its orbit, right? I mean, Hades had a good run for, what, 76 years?

And the ninjas! Don't forget the ninjas!

Please tell me that you do understand the difference between the Roman gods and the planets (and now dwarf planets) of our solar system.
