My hair is really wavy and poofy from wearing it up all the time...I naturaly have straight hair. I started using a straightener and I love it. Except a straightener can damage your hair. Is there any home-maid remedies that anyone knows of that could protect my hair from being burned when I straighten it? See a pic of me by going on my URL.

After washing it, it poofs and curls. And stays that way until I straighten it

Wearing your hair up did not change your natural curl. When you wash and dry your hair is it still straight? Are you using a chemical straightener or a flat iron, the amount of damage, and how to control it. is very different between the two.

petroleum jelly around the hairline and don't wash it or scratch your scalp a few days before straightening
