James, the brother of Christ, called Paul's version of christianity - chant these words, be as bad as you wanna be, and get into heaven - 'dead faith.' So, you don't even need to leave the bible to see the conflict. In fact, my bible describes several letters of Paul as his answering charges about him being corrupt (which he clearly was.)
Also, the gospel of judas records Christ as saying his followers will deceive legions of people, that his followers will be murderers, pedophiles, theives who do not understand at all what he is saying.
Of course, the church tossed out lots of gospels from people who knew christ and kept lots of junk from those, like paul, who didn't.
also, we know for a fact that the story about 'he who is without sin cast the first stone' was never ever ever in any gospels until after 400 a.d. none of christ's followers or their followers said it. it was made up and inserted. nice story, tho. we know for a fact that manuscripts have cross-outs, additions, admonishments about additions, and 'clarifications' by copiers.
genesis says giants married earthings (right before Noah story), the sun moves around the earth, and the mustard seed is the smallest of all seeds. The last true are defintely not true and I'm rather sure the first isn''t either. Also, have you ever read Genesis 34, about Dinah, Jacob's daughter. YIKES!!!!

Didn't you just contradict yourself?
Not ONE sentence was written for personal gain. All were written for the gain of all of us.
We're not supposed to argue (2 tim 2:23-26) or worry about "saving" non-believers who are good at heart (Romans 2:14, Mark 9:40, 1 Tim 1:3-11). We're supposed to show the benefits of our faith in God by example, not by words. (obviously a practice not followed by all christians, but, since you're asking the questions....)
We need to take a leap of faith, then we find all kinds of handholds in the Bible.
When in heaven I'll know reading the Bible didn't stop me from getting there.... so why would I cry?
Maybe you can restate the question.

The Bible could be tainted because it was translated by someone that sought personal gain (King James who was a sinful King). Greek and Hebrew can not be accurately translated but only done hypothetically. When we translate something into something that is not of its same origin we get a tainted version. When you look in the dictionary seeking a synonym for a word you get several different words with different meanings and one word can have many meanings. Now, that is just from english to english, so imagine into another langauge. This is why we have so many versions of the bible which too are tainted. God is the only being that can impart total truth to us (in our own dialectlaun). Being that the truth can still/only come from Jehovah who is the Father/God or from His Son Jesus/our Messiah, if you have a true in-depth relationship with Them. God imparts His Wisdom to any that receives Him in spirit and in truth (or spiritual truth). I do believe that the original books/scrolls were given/inspired by God who is the Author of truth. Now, do we have all the books and scriptures? Probably not. God will show/reveal to us the truth, and Jesus will help us with our faith. What we maybe missing in ink, God can impart to us in spirit. His word says seek him first and all else will be added to you. Only His word is infallible... Now let's think, if the bible or scrolls originated from Satan/Lucifer then there would be no good thing in it and we definitely wouldn't have a choice to choose, Jehovah/Almight/good/holiness or Lucifer/Satan/evil/bad/sin. We do not have to be taught to do bad/evil/sin but to do good. We all have a sinful nature, and must be taught to do good.

the bible , one of the great books was not and is not the word of God.this is a book of recollections and observations from people ,witness's who were around when all these eventstook place. not one scripture came directly from God but an account of many people's memory. this doesn't make it any less valuable but there are many scriptures that have been left out or not chosen for the king James Version. no it wasn't written for personal gain but written under harsh times and written as history..these accounts tell moses',Matthew,Luke, john etc. all these apostles account of what happened.no i would not cry.

Yeah, I agree completely with you. And these beliefs can be proven to be true if you just look up history. Like the part where the mother of Jesus was a virgin, some pope a long time ago made that up because it sounded better. That's the only thing I know as an example, but I know that there are alot of experts on this site who can give your better facts.

Such a conclusion can only be reached if one evaluates this 1st-century situation according to 21st-century standards.
These days, we buy and sell books. Authors and publishers make money off them.
But was it the same way in the 1st century? I doubt it.
As for "not everything in the Bible is the word of God," the Catholic Church teaches that the Bible teaches without error the religious truths that God established for us.
This doesn't mean that the Bible contains the fullness of religious truth -- many Protestants believe it does, even though the Bible never claims to contain it -- but the Bible certainly is the most important source of Christian truth.

The book of Leviticus seems to be all about personal gain for the male leaders of Israel.
The 10 commandments start off with how to make God happy.
Annanias and Saphira were killed by God for not giving all their money to the church. (you may say they lied about it, but would the apostles have been happy if they'd admitted that they wanted to keep some of their own money?)
The epistles of Paul were written to keep the various churches in line with his teachings.
I'd say a lot of gain was had by what was written in the bible.
Just ask the Vatican how much they've gained.

You're discounting the omnipotence of God.
Do you thing that an all powerful God couldn't inspire every word of a single book? If he couldn't do that, then he couldn't create the universe!

Scripture was written under the inspiration of God. He's capable of protecting it.
