I am Muslim, but I beleive that many things said to us by Allah (swt) in the Quran is metaphorical. And it is so hard for me to beleive that Shaytan really, truly whispers in our ear and tells us to do bad things. I think that just as there is purity in all of us, that all of us also carry our own "Shaytan" inside of us, and we are judged according to the way we handle the struggle between ourselves.

Anybody agree? Disagree? I'd love you hear your opinion. But if anybody tells me that all religions are fairytales, I'll flag you.

Assalam alaikum
I m a muslim 2, and yes i agree with u as do most Islamic scholars worldwide. The Holy Quran is not only our guidelines for life on earth, but a beautiful work of literature ( possible only from God,certainly!) And yes the fact about Shaytan is a metaphor to emphasize the reluctance of man to get rid of evil.

My ex-husband was Muslim and he totally believed that Shaytan whispered in his ear. Being Wiccan myself, (Wiccans to not believe in Satan/Shaytan) I found this very hard to believe and to understand. My ex-husband used to tell me that he was a "holy" man because he could trap Shaytan in the light and hold Shaytan there until he decided to let Shaytan go. Of course, I never believed any of this.

You are correct though when you write/say that we all have our own Satan/Shaytan inside of us and we choose how we deal with the demons that plague us.

We create our own destiny and follow our own heart. Unfortunately most people are always looking for excuses to pass the blame. (Example: Satan made me to do, my parents abused me, etc.). Once we go back to taking the blame for our own actions, only then, will we be able to move forward both as individual human beings and together as a society.

Have a lovely rest of the day.....Bright Blessings....
