As opposed to Governments serving people

2006-08-24 06:24:25 · answer #1 · answered by Lotus Phoenix 6 · 0 0

That's a good question. Many do not realize that human governments will never be able to solve mankind's problems. Many times they create problems. The only government that has the power to make things better is God's Kingdom and it will soon put an end to all the man-made governments here on earth.
" In the time of those kings, (world rulers)the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever." DANIEL 2:44
"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders-- Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this." ISAIAH 9:6,7
This is the government that will soon be ruling over the earth and the one we will gladly serve.

Because governments can effect positive change in peoples' lives if done properly. Things that individuals can't afford to do and corporations are unwilling to do (because of a lack of profit motive).
It's better than serving a church that only does good so it can get more souls. When people preferred to do that we called it the Dark Ages.

In your bible you will find several times when God has perscribed that we follow man's law and man's king as well as His Law and Him. We are not to obey the law of man at the expense of obeying him, but it has a lot to do with that whole "Children obey your parents in the Lord" thing. This does not mean that our authority has to be walking with the Lord in order for us to obey them. It has more to do with the state of servatude as being in the spirit of the Lord. Our Earthly rulers and our Earthly laws are this way because we asked for them just like God annointed the first king of Israel because the people were complaining because they did not have a king like the neighbors did. There is a lot to say on governments and even corrupt governments in the Bible, also there is accountability in our system, just like in the church.

When there is a problem in the church the problem isn't solved if everyone just throws their hands up in the air and leaves the church. You have to stay and see the problem through and work it out as a community. We, as a country have to do the same with our government. Every government has problems because every government in this world is OF this world. We have to be a part of the system to be involved to make the changes needed to make it better, not perfect, but better.
