My medical bills are outrageouse. For prenatal care it was $3,300 and I had no complications and one ultrasound. For labor and delivery for just me my bill was $4,500. My son is on a seperate bill and his costs were $1,300. I have excellent insurance but these bill seem a little high for a perfect pregnancy and delivery with no complications. I was also in the hospital for only 2 days. I also do not live in a major city or high income area.

I'd also like to mention how expensive my insurance is for me and my son. It's $130 for us bi-weekly. I also have a $250 deductable and the insurance pays 90%. That still leaves me with a bill of over $1000 and My husband and I pay over $370 a month for insurance. I recently recieved another bill for the well baby checkups for both of my sons. So far this year it's over $400 and they haven't been sick.

I've read articles that also state that even though america has the most expensive pre-natal care, the most qualified doctors, and women who go to prenatal visits more often, they have the most low-birth weight and infant mortality rate in the industrialized nations. Hmmm funny.

complain to your insurance company and the hospital. Tell them you are being billed to much.

It's expensive, but it's a lot cheaper than paying a lifetime of bills for a child with problems that could have been prevented by good prenatal care.

I'm glad you were blessed with a perfect pregnancy and wonderful son, but not everyone is so fortunate.

ALL medical care is expensive. Hopefully one of these days our government will wise up and help regulate all that, but until then.....
