I am a 21 year old catholic and I have a fear of evil or the devil trying to hurt me before I go to bed.. Or whenever it is dark. I pray and I still am in fear what can I do. My cousin told me a story that when she was little she listened to devil music and she went to slep and woke up to red hands curling her toes back. Her mom came in and had to do the rosary and it stopped. My aunt said that was true. Help

I get scared of evil in the dark too sometimes....just ask Christ to walk with you and he will...you'll be able ot walk through darkness anywhere and know that Satan cannot touch a hair on your head...just how you are afraid of the dark Satan is deathy afraid of the light....though you may not be able to see the holy light around you...Stan can surely see it and will not go near....with the Lord you are garantteed protection and peace... you don't have to be afraid. God Bless You!
one note before I go......Go to Christ for help not through Mary...she is only a sinner and will not be able to defend you against the devil....Christ is the only one pure enough to stop Him because He is God

don't take me wrong, but this event most surly never happened. none the less, phobias are a natural part of being human, and although i personally believe religion to be nothing more than age old guidelines enforced by superstition, seeking a greater purpose in life if also natural and is often believed to be obtained through religion.Opinions aside, there are many ways to get over a fear, it can be as simple as telling yourself that there is no devil, or if you chose not ot believe this, remind yourself that you are a morally good person and have no reason to fear the devil. if this does not work, and the fear truly troubles you, seek professional help. ....oh... and don't listen to ne devil music and u won't get your toes curled, that works too =p

oh my god you've been manipulated by your parents? people around you?

no one is going to get you. no devil, no god, no one. you aren't doing anything wrong ethically. this is the long worn out and over tired bliss of the hypocricy of religion.

i'm sorry but you can't be guilted so badly by these things and then pass them onto your children when the time comes.

remember you're a human being on this planet.. you are HUMAN! you make mistakes, you can't be 'good' and you aren't 'evil'.

you are you.

there's no such thing as the devil anyways not in that aspect. honestly in my opinion the devil in this situation is those who put this all into your head and are trashing your sensibilities before you can even have any for youself.

they've created a monster and now you're mentally suffering.. time to see a shrink but not one of those hired by the church shrinks they're just as bad.

this is a very unhealthy family situation. there should be some intervention!

either that or you're a bad story teller.

now stop it.

devil is just a hypothetical excuse to control you so much you can't have a mind of your own.

your family is sick.

Well, your story gives two answers in it:

1) You have to invite an evil spirit in (through music, actions etc), and you can actively avoid that.

2) If the prayers worked, then you know exactly what to do in worst case scenario.

You are armed with everything you need, just have some confidence in that.

best wishes

John 10: 9-10 "The thief (devil) does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."

Who is Satan? The devil was once an archangel named Lucifer who became fixated on himself, and decided that he would overthrow the Lord and take His place as God. “I will ascend to heaven;” he announced. “I will raise my throne above the stars of God, and I will sit on the mount of assembly in the recesses of the north. I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.” (Isaiah 14:13-14). This fallen angel, together with other angles who rebelled, became known as the devil and his demons. Satan’s sole purpose is to destroy men, whom God loves. And that God loved us so much so that He sent His only Son to die for our sins.

Satan can paralyze you with fear (like what you’re experiencing now), or he can make you believe he is just a figment of your imagination and that no matter what you do, there are no consequences to your sins. Either way, his only goal is to destroy you.

Don’t think that Satan is a character with a pitched fork who is going to take you to hell. He himself is afraid of hell. The only difference between him and us is that he absolutely knows he is heading to hell. The only thing he can do is take as many people with him as possible. The one you should fear is God, because only He has the power to destroy both body and soul.

But God loves you. He allowed His only Son to die for you, so that you need not go to hell. People who are caught in the devil’s trap can find freedom through repentance and faith in Christ. As they repent, they too will come into “the knowledge of the truth.” And, as Jesus rightly said, “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.” (John 8:32)

the best thing to do to get over your fears is to face them. if you are scared of ghost and evil, go and visit a haunted house or a cemetary in the middle of the night and see for yourself that there is nothing that can hurt you

I have no devil haunting me because I don't believe in him, I suggest you try that tactic. If you still want to believe in the boogeyman I don't know what to tell you
