I have had a lump in my neck for at least 3 weeks (at least that is when I noticed it first). It doesn't hurt at all and isn't very big but of course I am worried. I also have been really tired so I went to my doctor and she said it was allergies. I feel like she didn't really pay much attention to the lump. It still hasn't gone away though my allergies are being treated. Should I stop worrying since the doctor didn't seem to think it was serious?

I really don't believe your lump has anything to do with your allergies. It can mean other things such as a cyst, tumor, or nodes. I should particularly be concerned if I were you since you have been feeling tired lately. Your body could be fighting off an infection (thus the prominent lymph nodes), or it could be something more serious. Any sensible doctor should examine you and run some tests or biopsies to make sure it's not something bad such as cancer.

i was 8 years old when i noticed that i had a lump in my neck.....i remember i got a blood test and my count was off a little so i had to go back 2 weeks later for another test. that one came back normal. so my dr told me i had swollen lymph nodes and that i could have them the rest of my life.....well here it is 14 years later and its still there. it gets bigger when i get a cold or a sinus problem. i also get them behind my ears and on the other side of my neck. if it is a swollen lymph node you have nothing to worry about. the lump just means thats where the infection is. the dr also told me that if it gets any bigger or starts to hurt to come back for futher testing. but if you should happen to get a lump like that under your armpit, now that can be more serious. im not sure to what degree though

I really don't want to scare you, especially since I am not a doctor, and I don't know where it is in your neck....My sister was diagnosed with Hodgkins Disease (spelling?) when she found a lump in her neck. It was not very big and did not hurt. She was 30 years old. She is fine now. If you feel like your doctor did not pay attention to you, go to another one, until you feel satisfied, this is your right. Or you can wait until the medicine runs it course and see if the lump goes away. Again, I do not want to panic you, since I am not a dr.

I once had a lump behind my ear. It scared me to death. I went to the doctor and she told me that it was a swollen lymph node and that it happened because of my allergies/sinus. She gave me a decongestant and a week or so later, it was gone.
Hopefully, this is just what it is. I would still get a second opinion though just to be safe. Good luck!

Maybe you should go back to the doctor and tell her your worried about it and explain that your alergies are being treated but the lump is still there. I'm sure she will understand. If you want you could go to another doctor and see what that doctor thinks.

Hope this helps

Chances are that you have a benign cyst caused by soft tissue damage. This is called a lipoma. Totally harmless. It could be removed surgically if it gets in the way of your collar but talk to your doctor about it. Look up lipoma on the Internet and see if it matches in description what you have on your neck.

Maybe it's a problem with a lymph node, and yes I would go to the doctor just in case. That is something that I really think deserves a second opinion.

PLEASE keep on your doctor. Your case may not be just like mine. But, I started with a lump in my throat. Saw ENT, saw gastro, the thing was still growing, then I saw a surgeon. He was all set to remove my thyroid when he did some tests and oh, by the way, it was Lymphoma. It may NOT be Lymphoma in you, but don't give up until your specific problem is addressed directly. Best wishes.

Where is the lump located? It could be an inflamed lymph node ...I think that if you are worried then have another Dr. check it out...at least you will have piece of mind.
