as much as possible, it shoud be related to food and beverages... but if you've got something that might really add to a coffee shop's profits, then please tell... thanks!

How about coffee makers, coffee bean grinders, coffee cups, t-shirts with your logo, etc.

The key to success as it has always been is: K.I.S.S. In other words, Keep It Simple Stupid. I have seen too many shops fail because the owner got bogged down with an inventory of everything from candles to perfume. Basically, if it's not related to coffee, coffee culture,and/or coffee enjoyment, then do NOT sell it.

I will try to think of 11 things to sell in a coffeeshop:
1. Obviously, coffee drinks: everything from a regular cup of Joe to an Aztec Mocha and beyond.
2. Tea. Tea drinkers might not drink coffee, but they will drink tea in a coffeeshop that sells it.
3. Coffee beans, whole and ground, for sale by the pound.
4. Tea leaves, bagged and loose, particularly if you can carry some variety.
5. Coffee flavoured candies.
6. Coffee pots and other items to make coffee at home.
7. Strainers and other items to make tea at home.
8. Coffee mugs, both elegant and novelty.
9. A LIMITED selection of pastries and treat that would taste good to munch with coffee or tea.

I could only think of nine tangible items. Now for intangibles:
10. Ambience. A trip to the coffeeshop should be like a trip to someplace special where somehow even the most ordinary bumpkin feels like they're sophisticated.
11. The barista. When the customer comes in, the barista isn't just selling coffee, they are selling themselves as the representative of the coffee experience you want your customers to have. They should be sufficiently knowledgeable to both produce any coffee product on demand, but also to guide the novice customer into exploring new, and hopefully lucrative choices for you, products.

Whether you make an additional 100K a year in profits or not has a lot to do in the final examination with your location. If the traffic by your door isn't all that heavy, then you are going to have to work to get people to go out of their way to you. Coffeeshops have the potential for mystique. Make the experience seem exotic. It will cost you nothing to let the local poets and writers meet one night a week at your shop, and many people will come just to hang out with the hip. By the same token, "open mike night" let's the local musicians experience an audience while customers get to feel like they're getting a free show, which of course they are, and as long as they're sitting there, they will be buying your products.

Presuming that by coffee shop you mean a Starbucks-like espresso/coffee cafe/store -

*Coffee cups/travel mugs
*Pastries/Cookies
*Chocolate covered espresso beans
*Coffee brewing equipment & accessories (Coffee machines, French Presses, Measuring scoops, bean grinders, teapots, etc.)
*Light Foods - sandwiches, small salads & soups.
*Gift Cards
*Gift Baskets
*Barista's Aprons (or coffee/food themed aprons)
*Select Magazines (That are in keeping with the vibe of your establishment. Gormet foods, world travel, etc.)
*Local Goods (Locally made chocolates, area guides, anything that your city/neighborhood is particularly known for.)
*Coffee/Tea by the Pound

Good luck with your business!

Yummy snacks, sizzlers, prawns, fish-fry, lobsters, sandwiches, fresh-fruit juices, chocolates, unique puppet dolls, unique gifts, cards, valentine gifts, popular books, souvenirs, artificial jewelery, toys and the like. Decorate well, using fresh/synthetic plants, in good taste. Ice creams (orchard fresh) and frozen items, and items that specially attract kids who, in turn, pull their parents to your shop.
