for me it was her head - she got stuck just above her ears. My water was gone and then it started to burn. I swear my crotch was on fire. Just make sure you ask for some pain killers before it's too late. I was dialated 8 cenimeters beofre I asked and by then it was too late.
my baby girl is 2 month old and really I don't remember the actual pain just thinking I was burnin' up down there.

Seeing that I just gave birth 3 weeks ago, the pain from this delivery is still pretty fresh on my mind. I went without an epideral...but I did get some drugs in my IV for the last hour. I would say it's a three way tie. I think the contractions at the very end were pretty painful, but that was until I delivered the shoulders...ouch! Then I had to endure the after pains of my uterus shrinking for the whole next week, being that it was over a longer period of time and I had no idea when it would end (compared to knowing the labor and delivery would be over soon) it seemed to be worse. Plus they pain after seems to be pointless, since when you are delivering a baby you know the pain is going to produce results...a baby, and afterward what is really going to happen other than your belly shrinking? All in all, I think a lot of the delivery is mentally how you can handle it.

For me it was the contractions. I had a 4.5 hour long labor and my contractions basically started out 3 minutes apart and about 45 minutes later they were 1-2 minutes apart. The pain was so intense I was screaming and squirming uncontrollably. The pushing wasn't that bad just the intensity of the contractions, they were so close I never got any relief. The only other painful part was when her head was coming out........it felt like someone had lit my vagina on fire! But once she was out it was all worth it. And to tell you the truth I was proud of myself after labor....it was a good feeling. I felt I was now initiated into motherhood. Don't worry .....it will hurt but it will only hurt for a little while. Then you'll have a beautiful baby!

Transition and crowning were the worst parts.
I had three completely unmedicated births.
With my first, transition was a pretty difficult 45 minutes. Then crowning was a hard few minutes. If I had been a little more relaxed at that point I think it would have helped. I think I fought it instead of working with my body. I had a second degree tear, but I didn't even know I had torn until afterwards.
With my second, transition IN THE CAR really kind of stunk but I made it. It wasn't as bad as the first time. Getting her shoulders out was the worst part. My midwife broke my water during pushing and I think it was probably a bad idea, bringing the baby down in a bad position. I could feel myself brusing as I tried to get her shoulders out. I had to switch from an upright position onto hands and knees to get her shoulders out.
With my third, the hardest part was really very, very short. It was just a matter of seconds when I was ROARING her shoulders out.
The contractions are not that bad if you stay active during labor and work with your body. Pushing feels GOOD if you are doing it right.

Are you going to get an epidural this time? To me contractions, at the first stages, were just like waves of muscles tensing from top to bottom of my abdomen. Of course they get stronger, and even if you haven't had all those labor classes, you learn to breathe thru them. You just do what comes naturally to get you thru them. I just kept thinking how wonderful it was going to be to see him for the first time. And when I would see him there would be no more contractions. Just kept thinking it will all be over soon. Its all worth it in the end. Now I had to be induced but i had light contractions at work and at home. I'd have to stop what I was doing and just breathe. But when I went in i had already progressed to 2-3 cms. But anyway, you'll do fine, good luck, and take care. And remember just take deep breaths. When I actually delivered I had a big dose of epidural so i couldn't feel anything from the waist down, THANK GOD. I wouldn't wish that pain and pressure on anyone.

I had natural childbirth. The contractions were the most painful. The baby coming out was not painful at all, although you'd think it would be. Actually, it's a great feeling of relief when you can finally start pushing. You're helping the baby come out and it feels good to be able to push. As a matter-of-fact, it was such a relief that I didn't want to take any breaks inbetween the contractions. I didn't stop pushing until the baby was out.
Best of luck to you. You'll do fine.

For me the contractions definitely hurt the worse. I didn't get the epidural until I was almost 10 centimeters so I felt it all. The baby coming out really didn't hurt. It was hot and uncomfortable but didn't really hurt. All of it though was worth it when I got to hold my little boy.

For me, the most painful thing was the recovery! The labor wasn't too terribly bad (I did have an epidural, but only for the last hour of labor) but the tears/episiotomy hurt for about two weeks afterward. That was definitely the worst part.

I would say well for me...my doctor didn't come when the nurses called her...she waited for an hour and a half to come to the hospital...after I was dilated to 10. So I had to sit there for all that time and try not to push! It was the worst part of my labor.
don't wory about the jerk who called you a sped person. People can be so rude!

Dear soon-to-be-in-labour-person. number 1) is that you do not need to be hearing all these horror stories. every delivery is different and you may have no complications what so ever. I know two individuals that sang through their delivery. So the contractions hurt..blame eve. but listening to these stories will only make you anxious which could make it more diificult and more painful. The more relaxed you are the more you muscles will be relaxed which in turn helps manage any pain. Take my advice and turn off your computer.

For me what hurt the most is when the baby is coming out. It burns and you can feel your self being torn open.
Something that can help prevent this is massaging evening primrose oil to the area before you go into labor.
