I have a 15 month old daughter and she is really active. I am considering taking her to Gymboree once a week to socialize and learn. Have you had a positive or negative experience you can share? Is it worth the 145 for 8 week class?

I've had a very good experience at Gymboree. When my daughter was 18 mos, I noticed her attention span was shorter than most children her age. She wouldn't participate at story time at the library. She was more interested in finding stuff on the other side of the room. I then decided that it was time for her to attend something more up to her speed. She's an only child without any cousins, playmates, etc. She needed activity with other children. She florished at Gymboree. She interacted better with others, learned climbing and agility skills. Sometimes her attention varied from teacher to teacher. We found one with high energy (what she needs) and very attentive. Gymboree helped her with the social skills that she wouldn't be able to obtain at home. She has benfited greatly from this program and is a well behaved and more attentive little girl(I have to take credit for the behavior ;o) ) She's ending her final session now since she will be attending nursery school in the fall. It will be sad to see this experience end for her. All in all I am please with the program that Gymboree has offered my toddler.

Take a look at your local Parks & Rec dept. Ours offers Gymboree classes at the community center for a fraction of the cost of the classes at the Gymboree place ($30 for 6 weeks!). They also offer other similar classes for little ones -- some based around music, gymnastics, etc. Give it a try!

It took a lot of effort to organize a playgroup if you are working cause you will need to take care of all the logistics. So I went with the Gymboree option. So far, it has been working out really great for us. My son loves his Gymboree teacher so he had a great time everytime he went.

Gymboree is great. I took my son really loved it. It really improved his physical and social development because it is free play and the kids can join each activity if they want. They focus on each childs' developmental stages of growth. I also got to know alot of cool moms and we are friends still to this day. That was 4 years ago. It really prepared him for social playgroups because I started when he was 1. It is worth it.

In my opinion, it isn't worth the price. You can get the same level of socialization by starting a play group for free.

You can also get in just as much fun activity by going to the park or putting on music and dancing together.

When I did the program, I kind of felt like it was a ripoff.

I had a friend who went in the Houston area, but she said it wasn't worth the time and money spent to go. The activities were very basic things that you could do at home or in a small, informal playgroup for MUCH less.
