It should be okay as long as it feels fine. I have one eye that is more sensitive than the other, and it stings a little if I wore them too long the day before. Sometimes putting a drop or two of re-wetting solution in that eye before I put the contact in helps. You should only use cleaning products that have are designed for contact lenses. I have dropped mine on a bar of soap and it disintegrated the contact.

Okay, as an eye care professional...
Soap on the lens is bad, but if you rinse it well with the saline, you will be fine. If it has a bowl shape then it is right side out, and the stinging can be from a bit of lint from drying yoru hands on a towel after you have washed your hands before putting the lens in. If you didn't wash your hands, shame on you, but the stinging is from skin oil deposited on the lens. Make sure that you wash your hands, clean the lenses, and inspect them before putting them in for debris or tears and you will be fine. And never sleep in them!

If it feels fine, now, I wouldn't worry about it. Sometimes, my contacts bother me when I first put them in, and I've been wearing them for about fifteen years.

Soap would irritate it, but it won't destroy the contact. Sometimes, your solution may not be the right one for you, and that will irritate your eyes, as well.

The only time that you will have lasting discomfort is if the contact is inside out, or is there is a tear in the contact. Do yourself a favor and check the perimeter of the contact before placing it in your eye. If you see a rip or a tear, it's time for new lenses.

I hope that this helps.

Soap? What?! Don't use soap because that is probably what caused it to sting!

Oops...if it accidentally got on your lens, yes it can ruin it...even water alone can ruin it by causing it to dry up. So just wear a new one and wash your face before you put in your lenses.

If it feels ok now, it's probably not in backwards. You might have had an eyelash on it. What I do when that happens is take the lens back out, rinse it with the saline and put it back in. gets any dirt, soap or whatever off.

I used to get that a lot, If you pinch the edge of the lense it should look like a taco.If it feels fine now it might have just been a foriegn substance.

If it feels fine then it's in right. A little stinging initially is normal.

I have been wearing them for a while and that is normal. In fact it happens to me all the time. You will know when you put them in wrong. oh yeah, don't get them stuck in your eyelid or behind your eye, they are a pain to get out

oftentimes contacts are sparkling or blue tinted. they don't fairly have marks or something on them except you get those that adjust you eye colour. you would possibly want to easily want to ask the different ten human beings in the journey that they lost a contact... in the journey that they did not, that is yours.
