You most likely have a neck injury or your spine is so far out of adjustment that there is pressure on a nerve.Staying well hydrated, taking calcium and potassium(milk and orange juice are mush higher in potassium than bananas) may help.Taking muscle relaxers will destroy your entire work out so I don't know where that answer came from.If you follow these guidelines and it doesn't work you may want to consider seeing a chiropractor and get an adjustment or two.The best way to stretch the traps after a work out is grab onto something about waist height that won't move and just lean back a little and continue to breathe properly. One or all of these things should produce some positive results.

Warm up before you start your routine. If you aren't sure about how to breathe while working out find out because lack of oxygen can cause muscular problems. Towards the end slow down gradually. Don't work fast and then just stop. Let your body cool down naturally - that means no standing in front of cool air ducts, fans, or cold showers. Make sure you are getting enough potassium.
If the muscles continue to give you problems, see a doctor.

Adequate hydration and electrolyte fluids. You might also want to try supplemental calcium, as free calcium ion needs to pass the sarcomere, in order to reach and allow the actin and myosin molecules to "unlock". Most of your calcium is bound to plasma proteins, so you kind of need to "bolus" it with some chewable calcium tabs. Chew as many as you can stomach, in a short time, maybe six or eight (they are pretty gag-inducing).
Do NOT do this if you have ever had kidney stones, and if you have ever had kidney stones, I do not need to tell you why.

Use some more cool down exercises and add more POTASSIUM to your diet. Eat Banana's they are high in potassium. and that's what prevents muscle cramps.
