Wow! Are you the church lady or just doing an uncanny impersonation of him/her?
You forgot to mention the most important commonality between St.Nick and Old Nick. Both are mythical. If not, you are SO getting a lump of coal this Xmas...

Well, here goes.
2 things...
1) St. Nicholas was a real person who spent his time making little wooden dolls and puppets for children and passed them out to these impoverished families and children during Christmas time, all the while spreading news of Jesus Christ.
2) Satan is not red. He would have you think that he is red with horns, tail and pitchfork - sort of a vision of a cartoon, too ridiculous to be real. Satan is the most powerful, most beautiful angel God ever created. His pride got in the way when he wasn't praised like God, after all he was second in command. Even the Archangel Michael dare not challenge him.
Satan and Santa are 2 different, real things. It's just the misconception of these two that has people confused.
Satan would love to take Santa Claus and present him in a way that overshadows the true meaning of Chistmas.

I'm sure you could do a better job contrasting than comparing.
They use different modes of travel. I haven't heard of Satan and his reindeer.
One has been around since the beginning of time, and one since the 300's if you are using Christianity as your historical reference.
One is able to enter your home by descending a chimney. The other seeps into your heart.
One is a jolly old soul and the other steals your soul.
One may not be real but just one of those things that has been made up to teach lessons...oh wait...that could be either...so yeah, after all that? Mmmmm, no, I don't think so.

Santa is a figure based on the real man, St. Nicolas. This man actually did leave presents for little kids in his poor village. He wasn't immortal, he didn't go through chimneys, or deliver gifts all over the world, but it is this man's memory that we honor in the figure of Santa Clause. He was a kind person, who did kind actions - that doesn't sound very satanic to me.

No. Santa Clause was based on St. Nicholas of Bari.
"Santa" is Spanish for a female Saint. (Yes, I know, St. Nicholas was male) Therefore, it is pure coincidence that the Satan sounds similar to Santa. (Satan actually means "adversary.)

My answer is no. I believe that it's one of those things that years after being created, humans go "oops. hahaha" and realise the common or opposite traits.
I think it's coincidence. I never thought of that before though. It's kinda funny.
Humans created Santa, did we invent Satan also???

This is a story my people tell:
Two little girls come from a hell-fire and brimstone sermon. They are both still in wonderment. Finally one breaks the silence and asks the other: "Do you believe in Satan?" The first little girl asks the second.
The second little girl thinks a moment, her sweet face crinkling in thought. Then she smiles in understanding. "No," she replies, "it is just like Santa Claus: it is your Daddy!"
I hope this helps you.

But the devil is not good and a shame rubbed off of god. and santa is good and mostly pure. he is a 'jolly' fellow and satan tries to make us follow his path instead of gods. Santa makes it easy for us to believe in something

You may also occupy yourself with the similarity between dog and god. Look a bit deeper into the origins of the words. Do some research.
