Yep, at least once a month (so long as were medically able) and then we donate the money that we would have spent on our meals to a fund that helps the needy.

I like fasting, that little sacrifice really helps me feel in tune with the spirit, and find answers to my prayers.

best wishes

Yes. I am a christian and I fast. It's not only about not getting
to eat at all but also refraining yourself from eating and drinking stuff that nourishes your physical being. There are days when you don't eat half the day, two thirds the day and so on according to your capacity. But it's not really about how long but how much you're putting yourself into it.

Most Christians who practice Fasting (myself included), do so only on certain occasions for certain reasons rather than doing it on a regular basis and usually it is combined with prayer and/or meditation. Then there are those who fast once a year (Catholics, Lutherans, etc.) from only one item (like sweets or red meat) during Lent.

As a Muslim, once a year for one month, we fast everyday from sun-up ro sun-down, so for about twelve hours. That means no food and no water. For me it's a time for reflection, and becoming more spiritual. It also brings the community together...making us more hospitable, and eager for gathering. The best part is that since it is a holy month, I spend the time learning more about my religion.

Fasting is no food....you'd die in less than three days with no food AND no water. No one fasts without food and water.... No matter how much you pray, your God will not save you if you dont drink water!

I doubt that such intensely spiritual people are spending much time on Yahoo Answers. They have deeper things to do.
