I don't think that you can buy the real Absinthe in Mexico. The only place I ever had it was in Europe but yes proceed with caution I only had one shot and it felt like I was high.

Make sure that you do it right and I mean the burn the sugar in a spoon, mix it in, then flame the shot before drinking it. It makes a whole lot of difference.

Why do you need Absinthe, doesn't tequila get you in enough trouble? You know the day is going to suck when you wake up and burp and it tastes like tequila.
For the record, however, Absinthe the original, is now available in Canada.

Absinthe I have never seen in Mexico, I think it is illegal just like it is in USA... best buy it on your next trip to Europe.

You can't (technicaly). It is only sold in Europe. A faux-absinthe liquor called Absente, made with southern wormwood (Artemisia abrotanum) instead of regular wormwood (Artemisia absinthium), is sold and does not contain thujone (the toxic chemicle that makes Absinthe popular.)
