In Texas there are two different offenses. One is kidnapping - 3rd degree felony with a punishment of 2-10 years and then there is Aggravated Kidnapping this is a 1st degree felony with a punishment of 5-99 years. There are several differences, but I would need more information to be more specific.

FOR A YEAR???? Holy cats! Kidnapping carries a maximum life sentence in most states, and if part of another felony - like murder - can carry the death penalty.
