This is a very good question & I stop by this section on a regular basis, though I rarely engage in any interaction. I enjoy thoughtful discussions and debates between people who are thinking, sharing, and *listening* to perhaps someone who holds an opposite belief system than their own.

Unfortunately, there seems to be more clipped answers with no exchange of ideas than anything else. I'd like to find a place where people are willing to take a position and then offer points and reasoning behind it while still allowing someone else to do the same.

Everyone has beliefs, we're all part of the human race, and it would be a pleasant change to interact amiably and intelligently, thereby at minimum *gaining* an understanding of another's beliefs while putting our own to the test.

" hope to gain or accomplish by being in the "religion and spirituality" section?"

That is a good question....!!

I love to see people learn...

is that:
my gain?
or
my accomplishment?

I gain knowledge. Some people look at religion or christianity in a way I never thought of, wich makes me open my mind and think a little, and become more tolerant. I also like to help people like minded, because when I need help, sometimes I find it.

Other than that, sometimes its just fun to defend myself against the crude ignorant people out there that tend to try to tell me I dont know what Im talking about, for me, thats just fun.

Its not to gain or accomplish anything, that has already been done when someone accepts Christ. By being in here, they are making a statement about who they are and what they stand for.

What I would hope to gain here would be even the faintest glimmer of a reason to hope in the otherwise completely dark tunnel that is human existence. But the only thing I have found online is what I have found in life: disappointment. Many human beings believe in a heaven, but I do not. However, many of these people also believe in hell, and so do I: it is here and now and this life that we live. Anyone who would want to curse someone to endless torment need only wish them immortality to watch the slow, foolish procession of humanity towards the Abyss.

my hopes are to help someone like you to understand that there
is a true God in whom you can trust. And that there are two different types of religions.
1-there is a religion were people tells other people what to do,
what to wear, what to say to God, when to pray. that's not what God wants us to be.
2- the other religion is FREEDOM from the first religion.
we have the freedom to come to God whenever we want, we can be confident that God is leasining. nobody tells us what to say to God, nobody tells us when to pray. what we have with God is a relationship with him.
many people get stock in the old testament they don't take there time to read the new testament and that's why they don't understand the bible.

To try in my own small way to rid the world of some confusion.

If this board illustrates anything, it's that for every idea man can have in his brain, someone will make it a religion, someone will disagree, someone will mock it, someone will hate it. That's sad.

I haven't attempted to accomplish anything more than learning a bit about the beliefs of others. I have learned, and that is my gain.

I started out wanting to share what I know.

Now I think 99% of the questions here are stupid, pointless, or deliberately offensive and provocative, so I don't spend much time here anymore.
