A Year is 365 Days 5 hours and 51 minutes long (to the nearest minute)
31449600 (365 Days)
+
60*60*6 = 21600 (for the quarter day that leap years account for)
-
60*9 = 540 (less the nine minutes - this is accounted for by century years {1900, 2100 etc} not being leap years)
Therefore 31,470,660

31536000. 60 seconds time x 60 minutes will give you the seconds in an hour. Multiply that times 24 to get how many seconds in a day. Multiply that times 365 to get the number of seconds in a year.

Short answer: 365 days/yr * 24 hrs/day*60mins/hr*60sec/min = 31,536,000 seconds / yr.
Long answer: Technically slightly more, since there is about an extra 1/4 day every year (thus leap year). So for each time the earth goes around the sun, there is closer to 31,557,600 seconds. Grouping those extra seconds together and putting them in one spot, known as "leap day" means a "leap year" has about 31,622,400 seconds.

First of all there are 24 hours in a day, one hour = 60 mins
one min = 60 secs
60 secs x 60 minsx 24 hours = 86400secs in a day
52 weeks in a year
7 days in a week
7x86400 =604800 secs in a week x 52 = 31449600 secs in a year

There's the second month = 1
There's the second day of each month = 12
There's the second week of each month = 12
There's the second day of each week = 52
There's the second quarter = 1
There's a second month in each quarter = 4
