First you weigh yourself.. let's say 150 lbs, then .You buy 5 pounds of food, hold it in your hand.. so you weigh again, you weigh 155 lbs, but after you eat it, you don't actually weigh 155 lbs.
Why?

I mean weigh right away.. digesting can be explained, but holding in the hand and putting in your stomach make big difference?

You should not be eating 5 lbs of food at one sitting!
If you eat 5 lbs of food throughout the day, your weight still won't be exact due to fluid retention/loss (urination)
If you try this with a normal size portion of food, say 1 lb, bathroom scales aren't precise enough to give you accurate before/after results.

it's something like when the food is digested, a lot of it is literally taken into your bloodstream maybe? I should know this, cuz I took a body systems class last semester, but I forgot. Can you imagine eating 5 pounds of food? ...well, lol I can cuz i do it a lot

The food that you are holding has water in it. When you eat it only dry material is left in your stomach the other water-containing pieces are used in your body as water for your organ system or blood.

1. take the food of the example (if it contains various elements, it would be better)
2. practice chemical changes on it (im' not talking about complete digestion, just changes on food, other than "physical" ones (cutting of, smashing, etc.)
you'll notice difference in the weight.
that was discover by Einstein :)))))))))))))))))
seriously, ask any professional chef, they know by practice, how does it change mass, weight and volume, of the same prime material, by timing, and other factors.

It's the way it's packaged. The packaging when it's in your hands to the packaging in your tummy. It's all compressed and mixed with saliva it will wiegh differently. We have liquids in our bodies. That is why we float in water. Same for this. hope that gives some light on the subject

food is fuel for the body.... it burns off what it needs(digestion) and then moved through your system and eliminated from the body over time.

i really don't know, but here's a guess, when you eat, you don't scrape your plate clean, and some of the stuff you held you didn't eat. I don't know it's just a guess
