Hiccups are because of irritation of the Phrenic nerve which causes the diaphragm to contract periodically and produce hiccups.
Somehow drinking water, holding your breath and even trying consciously to suppress the hiccups can make make them stop. Surprisingly at times louds bangs can also make them disappear!!!

Hiccups disappear at
at the site, sight, of very,
unfortunately long distracting
sentences with misbellings
and obtuse commentry.
Toilets and synergy turn
hiccups into evolving forms
of kinetic stuttery.
There, I confused you, usually,
confusing thoughts get rid of
hiccups. Did that help?

Superstitiously, hiccups mean someone is thinking of you somewhere, which is good....but if you want to make them go away, then just drink some water. If that doesn't work, add a little scotch, that's sure to do the trick!

I fill a coffee mug with water, lean over the sink, and drink from the opposite side of the mug. That causes your diaphragm to have to work at it and stops the hiccups.

drinking a lot of water at the same time.
But why do that. Cause it feels nice when you have hicups.
I rather have hiccups than to get rid of it

Take a cup of water and put a paper towel over the mouth piece and drink through the paper towel. This always works for me.. people are always amazed. Usually only takes about four or five gulps.

Eat a spoonful of sugar....but it's actually the abrasiveness of the sugar on your esophagus that does the trick, not that it's somehow "suffocating" the hiccups...

Hiccups are caused when oxygen doesn't enter the diaphram.
Inhale deeply. Hold your breath as long as you can. Then exhale, you might burp, but that's okay. Do it again till they go away.

Start drinking a bunch of water. If that does not work try slapping your self. But really really really hard. It hurts so much! But i first drink a bunch of water and then hold my breath for about 30 seconds or so.
