Wasn't Jesus God's only begotten Son?

And why does it say they took Earth women as wives? Were they extraterrestrials?

Oh, Suzanne, so what you're telling me is that angels have a sex drive? And can make real physical sperm that can impregnate Earth women? Why would they be able to do that? Were they born of sperm and egg?

my gosh, it is self evident that none of the other answer-ers speak a thread of hebrew.
The term "elohim" is not only used for G-d. It is used for anyone in a position of power. for example, judges.
The normal, simple reading of the text is that the "children of the nobility" took the commonfolk (probably without consent) for wives. In other words, it was a corrupt government.

I believe Adam and Eve had children while still in the Garden of Eden. Part of the reason I believe this is that God told Eve that pain in childbirth would INCREASE. One could conclude that this means increase from what it would have been, but I believe in such a case it would then just state that with much pain she will give birth. I believe this is an increase in pain from what she had already had. Adam was called the son of God (Luke 3:38). Any children he had before the fall would not have inherited the sinful nature that had been passed on. I believe these decedents were the "sons of God." The children Eve bore after the fall would be the "daughters of man."

In this context, they are the angels, which were created, not begotten (conceived).

Some angels took human wives and reproduced; God viewed this as a sin and cast these angels away from Him, to await judgement.

After a Christian is "Born Again" in the Spirit, we are also considered "sons (and daughters) of God." But your question pertained to Genesis (OT), not the NT.

Additional information: Yes; these were angels that became sinfully lustful and fell from God's grace. Angels are able to choose between good and evil, just like you and I. Read Genesis 6:4 carefully.

- Some say it's the fallen angels, who make babies that are Nephilim
- Some say that this line, refering to Sons of God and Daughters of Man, refers to the seperate lines of Cain and Seth.
- Some even say it's just written that way because women came from men. That whole rib thing.
