The man that I am seeing and I decided about 2 weeks ago that we weren't going to title ourselves with anything (boyfriend girlfriend) because we're both a little skitterish around relationships (both been hurt semirecently).. I know he's not seeing anyone else and neither am i, and we are both jealous people, so to see anyone else would ruin what we have.. but i like to have closure.

Would it be adding pressure to our relationship if I asked to be spokenly exclusive?

That sounds pretty reasonable to me. Just clarifying whether or not you are exclusive isn't the same thing as trying to talk him into it, which would be adding pressure of course. Just don't go making a bigger deal out of it than you have to. If you sit him down for a serious talk, that's going to feel like pressure. If you just throw into any old conversation "So hey, are we exclusive here or no?" then that's not really pressure, but it will give you closure. In a way, just asking will take pressure off both of you as well by the sounds of things.
