you have herpes

there is no cure

Cold sores are very unpleasant, and most treatments on the market (like Abreva) recommend that you use them at the first sign of the sore, not when it's full-blown. I would not recommend covering it in foundation or concealer, because you could infect it by putting those chemicals on it. If you really can't stand for your boyfriend to see you with the cold sore, maybe you should consider canceling the date. Or if you think he can still appreciate your company, maybe the two of you can just stay in for the night so you don't have to go out with your cold sore. (I only assume this is an issue for you because you're asking. In general, there's no reason to hide yourself away when you have a cold sore, if you don't have a problem with who sees you.) Hopefully, it will go away in a few days. Good luck!

Drink A LOT of orange juice, eat a lot of raw onions and garlics. Thats the best natural healer. Vitamin C pills os an alternative. Drink lots of plain water. Get well soon !
